Are Principles Conditional?

You are a devout vegetarian devoted to the well-being of all living creatures, when a doctor tells you that to save your life you must eat animal protein. What do you do?

You are a judge and a woman is brought before you charged with stealing, but you learn she was broke and what she stole was food to feed her children. Do you convict her?

You serve on the board of a charity, a position of trust. But you catch a loved one stealing from that charity. What do you do?

You are an environmentalist and work paycheck to paycheck but suddenly you inherent land in an environmentally sensitive area worth a fortune if you sell it to developers? Do you sell it?

Life has many such challenges. Are our decisions conditional to our needs at the moment?

But if so what are our principles if we don't act on them? Are they principles at all? What is it we believe in and do we honor those beliefs by our practices?

I suggest we let our hearts guide us.

For removed from all the outer turmoil is a deep inner peace, that contained within our spiritual selves and it will lead us through life's many contradictions to address our principles and do what is truly meaningful for us.
