According to its government America is under siege, with enemies everywhere. And there is some truth to that for the U.S. has and is killing people, destroying their economies, damaging their cultures and occupying their nations, all in the name of peace.
But the greatest threat to America is not revenge from all these people. Nor is it from Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Hezbollah, Hamas, Moammar Gadhafi, Yemeni "rebels," nor from its NATO allies and Pakistan refusing to do what the U.S. demands, nor was it from Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. For military budgeting purposes, these parties play the role the Soviet Union used to.
The greatest threat to the American people is from its own Military Industrial Complex (MIC). For the MIC is devouring taxpayer money at a staggering pace, sinking America deeply in debt. So much in debt that to support the MIC, it is ready to sacrifice or compromise Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, its educational system, its police and fire protection and the safety net for its most vulnerable people.
No foreign power could ever do this to America. And if the U.S. economy collapses, it will be the U.S. military and its "contractors" which will maintain order in the U.S., brutally if necessary.
But if you are an American, there is hope! You can raise your voice for peace, raise your voice for fiscal sanity and raise your voice to downsize your military. As for national security, it is only in seeking peace with others and recognizing them as your brethren, not somebody to threaten and kill, that national security is ever attained.
