Their primary purpose is to kill current or potential U.S. enemies and they are sent into nations where the U.S. military believes those enemies exist. Those squads may now be operating in as many as 70 nations and Osama bin Laden was killed by such a squad.
To some people, U.S. "Kill/Capture" squads protect Americans. But those squads violate the Geneva Convention, the United Nations Charter and the U.S. Constitution. Whenever laws are set aside to satisfy a government's actions, they are set aside for all of us, for without rule of law, no one's rights are safe. And some families who are victims of those squads may seek revenge, which puts Americans in danger.
But let's assume for a moment, "Kill/Capture" squads serve a worthwhile purpose. Surely then their supporters can accept that other nations have the right to also have "Kill/Capture" squads. Therefore, if China decides that it has enemies within the U.S, it too can dispatch "Kill/Capture" squads to murder them. And to make those squads most effective, their activities must be kept secret from the U.S. government, much as the U.S. kept its activities secret from Pakistan when it killed Osama bin Laden.
If the U.S. is judged not by its words but by its actions, it now stands for a war machine that is by far the biggest in the world, wars and military occupations and "Kill/Capture" squads.
