U.S. Adds 117,000 Jobs In July. Is It Good News?

Most of those jobs were in health care, reimbursements of which the U.S. government is threatening to slash and in retail, in which such firms as McDonald's and Wal-Mart provide plenty of jobs but most of them pay low wages.

So unfortunately, it is not good news.

Hi, Dick. Unfortunately I have to disagree with you. (gee, that's novel) With the current state of our economic affairs, any job, low paying or nor, is wonderful news, especially for the persons needing those jobs. I am sure thefolks would want higher paying jobs, but they are taking what they can get at this time. Food has to be purchased, health care provided, rent needs to be paid, gas for autos bought, etc. So, I give them credit for their efforts and sacrifices and even, perhaps, their dismay and embarrassment? Moreover, I have read countless stories from your emails about people who have made fortunes and become successful starting out at the bottom rung.

As far as the threat of the government slashing $$ in health care, that has yet to occur. And it may not happen at all? So, even if temporary, these jobs not only help the involved worker, but they help the economy. And that's a very good thing.

Keep in mind who would be paying for the benefits of the above workers, their med costs, or their unemployment checks if they did not secire these jobs.

See ya, Ben
