During his Hawaiian vacation, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act which allows the U.S. Military to seize and jail U.S. citizens indefinitely, with no charges, no lawyer, no due process. This Act is supported by 93 of the 100 U.S. Senators and by a large Congressional majority.
Why? Because they believe this is necessary to fight Al-Qaeda and other terrorists, including U.S. terrorists in the U.S.'s "War on Terror." President Obama originally said he would not sign this bill but ultimately signed it after expressing his reservations in a "Signing Statement" and assuring the U.S. public they would never be jailed and held without due process as long as he was president. But however long he is president, this is now the law of the land.
History tells us this is a horrific mistake, as people always naively belief it could never happen to them, only to terrorists, yet now it only awaits a president who uses it against anyone he chooses. Because the U.S., which spends more on its military than the rest of the world combined is somehow under siege, peaceful protesters or dissenters of any type are subject to it. In stages, we are watching the sun set on what was once a great democracy.

Yes, Dick, I agree with you 100% This is why Kevin and I believe so strongly in the second amendment: our right to keep and bear arms. When your forecast comes true, we will be able to defend our families, and also defend the gun control advocates that tried time and time again to take away this monumental right of the people, just because they don't like guns. History also shows this to be an awful and deadly mistake when the wrong president/dictator takes the reins!
See, Dick, we actually do think alike!! We worry about the same things, amigo. Ben
When the US placed Native Americans in reservations and interned Japanese Americans during WW II, they were violating the constitution. I fear that this law does the same but since the overwhelming majority of our electorate supports taking away the rights of the those that they fear, it will be very difficult to fight in court.
This is a very big chunk of our freedom that eroded and since the caricature of the "terrorist" is a Muslim wearing different garb with a strong foreign accent, there is no worry that you or I could be systematically rounded up under the guise of this law. A total shame and history lessons are simply lost and forgotten until the new atrocity.
I'm not sure how well the 2nd amendment is going to help when those that show up will be agents of the government. Sounds like another Ruby Ridge when someone doesn't support the "law".
