There is a world of wonders that await us if only we will awaken our awareness.
For much of my life I have been intensely focused on what I want to accomplish. And yet earlier this week I took a walk near my home on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, a semi-rural area along the ocean southwest of Los Angeles.
In the bright sunshine and 75 degree temperature, about 2,000 feet above sea level, I walked under eucalyptus and pine trees, the pine trees emitting a heavenly scent. The sky was a deep clear blue and in looking at the Pacific Ocean off in the distance, it was hard to tell where the vast blue ocean ended and the sky's horizon began.
Jutting above the sea about 26 miles offshore from Palos Verdes was Santa Catalina Island, it too apparently basking in the warmth of the sun, shaded only by a few puffy white clouds.
All of these wonders were there to be enjoyed, simply awaiting my or anyone else's awareness. You too have wonders around you just awaiting your discovery. Even if you live among high rise buildings, intense traffic and crowds of people, take the time to notice the architecture, the shopping and restaurants and especially the people, picking out particular individuals.
There are so many wonders that await us and yet so little time to become aware of them, before life has gone by. Don't miss this wondrous show, as you become aware of it and let it soothe your soul.
