No Jeopardy No Peace Movement

During the Vietnam War there were widespread passionate peace protests and they eventually led to an end to that disastrous war. Today, despite the U.S. fighting wars all over the place, the American peace movement is silent. Why?

Because there is no draft, which means no personal jeopardy and therefore most people go on with their lives as if all those wars and bloodshed didn't exist. Other than military families and a handful of others, America is tuned out and instead tuned into "reality," dance, "idol," awards and other escapist television programming.

As far as most Americans are concerned, the government is free to use its military as it chooses to, and they won't get involved.
