To Those Seeking Enlightenment

Like you, I too am seeking enlightenment. Here are 7 of the lessons I've learned that could be helpful to you:

1) You don't need a Guru. The way to enlightenment is where it has always been, within you. Accessability is through prayer and meditation.

2) It requires patience. It takes time as we strive for a higher awareness and in stages, we become increasingly aware as we see the world through new eyes.

3) It requires love and forgiveness for you can't have one without the other and you can't have enlightenment without both.

4) It requires compassion, for compassion is a part of love's expression and it connects us with each other.

5) It requires action. Thoughts are very powerful but they require physical manifestation. We can in our thoughts advocate peace and charity, but if we never act on those thoughts, wars continue and the poor struggle to survive. No-one is better for us having had those thoughts.

6) It requires release of stress. Stress is a bundle of negative energy so strong, that it can not only block enlightenment, but destroy the body as well.

7) It requires continuous action. It does us little good to concentrate on enlightenment one day and spend the days that follow lost in life's illusions. We are as we think and the profound gift of enlightenment requires our ongoing attention.
