Wanting More

Most of us find ourselves wanting more things, things advertisers persuaded us we need, things our egos demand to impress others, in our never ending search for happiness. But reality is:

Beyond our basic needs, things can never bring us sustained happiness. After an initial rush of adrenaline, we feel let down and empty and in search of the next thing to fill that void.

The fact is the only thing that can fill that void is love, love for ourselves, love for others and love for the meaningful things we do possess, simple and unimpressive as they may be.

Thank you to author C.T. Brown whose piece, "Tis the Gift to be Simple" (6/17/15) helped to inspire this piece.
