Ever since the U.S. invaded Iraq in March, 2003 my friend, 82 year old Korean War veteran John Fortier has held a peace vigil each Friday evening.
John is a warm and friendly retired school teacher, who would welcome others to join him but on most nights, he stands visibly alone.
John's actions are a wonderful illustration of Jesus' plea for love and peace yet most Christians drive by without so much as a horn honk or a wave of support. I guess they don't recognize Jesus' teachings in action.

John informally began his peace vigil after the U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001. As you may be aware, both wars continue today.
