Do We Americans Have A Say In Our Government?

In the run up to the Iraq War in 2003, Americans protested en mass. President Bush closed his drapes and ignored the protests, which he continued to ignore, as he escalated the war. Since then President Obama has continued that war and Congress funds it with little or no debate, while putting it on our credit card. We have no say.

1) Top management in some huge companies commit massive fraud and nearly bankrupt the world. No-one is held accountable, big bonuses continue, the lack of oversight remains and we have two new concepts: giant corporate bailouts and "too big to fail." We have no say.

2) Staggering and skyrocketing government deficits that risk our financial future: our dollar, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, our police and fire protection, our educational system and services for children, the poor and the frail. We have no say.

3) Jobs by the tens of millions are shifted overseas and we must import most of what we use. We have no say.

4) We have no energy policy nor is one in the making and British Petroleum ravages the Gulf Coast. We have no say.

5) From our government's irresponsible financial actions in which it brings in only 60 cents for every dollar it spends, our dollar grows weaker and food, gas and other prices rise. We have no say.

6) President Obama escalates the Afghan War and Congress funds it with little or no debate, putting it on our credit card. We have no say.

7) President Obama launches a 3rd War in Libya and that too is put on our credit card. We have no say.

8) As part of a two party monopoly, Democrats and Republicans constantly bicker, often refusing to work together. We have no say.

9) Our government has no environmental policy and we are dependent on heavily polluting coal and highly dangerous nuclear fuel. We have no say.

10) Government officials including President George W. Bush repeatedly violate the U.S. Constitution and our legal rights and they commit war crimes. No one is held accountable. We have no say.

This is what our government has sunk to because we don't get involved. But if we don't unite and raise our voices, there is no-one else to do it for us. Half the people eligible to vote don't even register because they think their vote is meaningless. And they are right! We must organize, whether on Facebook or elsewhere as they are doing in the Middle East and like them we will wind up peacefully rallying in our capitol and revolutionizing our government. If not, we will have no say in whatever "our" government does, as it will continue to rule us.
