What Is The Impact On The Brain Of Explosions Near The Soldiers?

Science is beginning to connect the explosive force of bombs that detonate near soldiers as being similar in impact to the brain as that incurred by football players and boxers who take repeated hits.

From the Iraq and Afghan wars, tens of thousands of soldiers have come back with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but now we are learning some of them are also incurring brain damage, as their brains deteriorate from the original impact.

And like other forms of dementia, there is no cure. For many military personnel and their families and the taxpayers, the cost of these wars will be felt far into the future. Let us hope for scientific breakthroughs that will solve these horrific problems, but the wisest course of all is not to fight so called "wars of choice."
