Why Doesn't The U.S. Bring Its Troops Home?

The costs of all of its wars continue to mount by the day, whether measured in blood or in dollars. Yet the U.S. fights on with no defined purpose, no time frames and no end in sight. As costly as it is, the Afghanistan War is but one of its wars.

And the development of new weapons systems is endless as is the price tag for them. Meanwhile because it doesn't have the money to pay for its wars or its weapons systems, the U.S. government is prepared to slash vital programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other crucial services to continue its military spending.

Money is supposedly so tight, there has even been a delay in getting financial assistance to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Yet weapons and wars are not even a topic of conversation among the expenses that need to be cut. What is wrong with us America? What happened to our priorities? Where are our consciences? Where are our voices? It is in our silence this madness continues.
