Why Are You Here? Why Am I?

Why are you and I here? Are our lives accidents? Do our lives have meaning? Do we bring meaning to other lives? Would some of those lives exist without us?

Why are you and I are here?

This life is but one of many lives each of us has lived on this plane of existence, as extensive research from near death experiences and from hypnosis and remarkable recollections of many other people inform us.

But why? That it is karma is readily apparent, but for what purpose? Is it to elevate our wisdom to live lovingly and peacefully on far higher planes of existence?

This plane of existence is filled with love and beauty, and wisdom is here for those of us who seek it.

But this plane is also packed with war, poverty and cruelty and at times such incredible ego driven stupidity.

I have seen and/or listened to spiritual beings, to my everlasting gratitude for their guidance, patience and love. I assure you we are far more capable than the way most of us live our lives.

Are our lives accidents?

No and there are no coincidences. Of that my 68 years have shown me.

Do our lives have meaning?

Yes, but rarely in the forms we think. For the most part, we are asleep, valuing possessions such as money and what it buys, none of which can come with us after a short life. We do the same with power and fame, which are also only manifestations of the ego.

Ironically, we are most awake in our sleep as the subconscious mind takes over. We are also most awake in meditation and prayer, for in these states of mind we get to know our higher selves.

Do we bring meaning to other lives?

Yes as we interact with them or as our thoughts and actions reach them from afar, much as the ripple in a brook can travel far beyond what our eyes may witness. In turn the lives of others affect us in the same way.

Would some of these lives exist without us? Absolutely.

Our egos may tell us otherwise but as you and I prior to birth picked our parents out of our karmic needs, we were picked by those who chose us to become their parents for this particular life. Hopefully love and respect also played a crucial role.

But this brings us back to the question of why you and I are here.

That we are making our journey together is apparent, as it is equally apparent that we are brethren. Race, religion and geographic boundaries are all just illusions.

Yet my answer as to why we are here is not an answer, but some observations.

It must be a journey of love, faith and gratitude for those vital elements are innate to us. It must also be one of self-reflection for personal growth, and one of forgiveness, perhaps the single most important lesson we have to learn.

We must also let go of selfishness and fear for in this plane those elements bring disaster. Perhaps as a result we will learn instead to live in peace, meaning by our thoughts, words and action, we become worthy of living at a higher plane of existence.

Some people seek a messiah, while others claim a messiah has come, even as the lessons of that messiah are in practice, largely ignored by most people.

But I believe we are our own messiah, meant to elevate our thinking and our compassion as we strive to become worthy of The Power that created us.
