Today something extraordinary happened to me that I cannot recall ever happening before and it is something that I also wish for you dear reader. And I never saw it coming until it happened.
Following a morning prayer, as I laid on a hotel bed in silence, my mind and body became still. It was a meditative state but something more. It was between being awake and being asleep.
It was an awareness of life and a transcendence of that life.
It was the most peaceful feeling I've ever known in this life, bordering on Nirvana. A feeling so captivating I lost track of time and wished that feeling would never end.
But at its end I was completely at peace, a depth of peace I've never known in my 68 years of life.
I felt love for all beings and absorbed the beauty that surrounded me, from my wife Anne, to a hotel maid named Josefina to a corporate meeting about to begin, to the warmth of the sun and the magnificence of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Catalina Island in the distance.
In the stillness, may I again be blessed to return to such bliss and may you too dear reader travel so blessed a journey.
Dick
