Why War?

Dear Reader, the following comment about war I shared yesterday with my friend Mary Ellen and I thought it might interest you. As for war, it is usually committed to by people seeking a sense of power and control and they use fear as the enticement, 9/11 being a great example. Those who profit by it encourage it and wash the blood from their minds, as they rationalize it away. Sadder still are the soldiers and their families who are profoundly affected by it, but respond to the call and honor of their country, hoping to be heroes but forgotten by the citizenry and even by the people who sent them off en masse with proclamations of glory. And worst yet are the wars’ other victims, the men, women and children caught in the cross fires of Hell.

In Afghanistan, after nearly 10 1/2 years of war, the U.S. government no longer even tries to justify this incredible endless bloody fiasco to its people. The death and destruction disaster that is Iraq speaks for itself and it will be years before that nation even starts to recover.
